Counselling Support for Vulnerable Children, Teenagers & Families

At Guardian Light Foundation, we believe that emotional healing and stability are the first steps toward rebuilding lives.


Our Counselling Support Service (Tier 1) provides free, confidential, and trauma-informed counselling for:

  • Homeless children and teenagers

  • Single parents facing crisis

  • Families at risk of losing their homes

  • Individuals referred by local authorities, GPs, or social workers

Each person deserves a safe space to talk, process, and grow stronger — and our trained counsellors and partner professionals are here to support you.

🧭 Service Overview

 - 1:1 Counselling: One-to-one confidential sessions with a qualified counsellor - Free

 

 - Parent-Child Sessions: Focused support to rebuild communication and trust - Free

 - Crisis Counselling: Short-term emotional support for individuals in emergency situations - Free

 - Progress & Recovery Reviews: Optional check-in sessions to review progress and ongoing needs - Free

⚠️ Eligibility Criteria

📝 Please Note:


This service is ONLY available to individuals or families who are:

  • Homeless or at risk of homelessness (proof required – e.g. eviction notice or letter from council)

  • Referred by a Council, GP, Social Worker, or Partner Agency

  • Experiencing crisis, domestic violence, or significant hardship

👩‍⚕️ Our Counsellors & Partners

Our counselling team includes:

  • Qualified Freelance Counsellors who donate pro bono hours

  • Trainee Counsellors on placement, supervised by senior professionals

  • Our Partner Solicitor, who can advise on child arrangements or domestic violence injunctions where appropriate (pro bono, limited capacity)

All counsellors hold enhanced DBS checks, professional insurance, and ongoing supervision to maintain the highest standards of care.

🧾 How to Access the Service

  • Complete the Referral or Application Form below.

  • Your Applications will be reviewed by our Counselling Coordinator within 10 working days. ( Referral will take 24-72 hours)

  • If eligible (For Applications Forms) , we’ll contact you to arrange an initial assessment (online or in-person).

  • You’ll then be matched with an appropriate counsellor based on your needs.

💬 What Happens Next

  • After submitting your form:

  • You will receive an email confirmation within 2 working days.

  • Our Counselling Coordinator will review your eligibility.

  • If you qualify, you will be contacted to arrange an initial assessment.

🔐 Confidentiality & Safeguarding

  • Guardian Light Foundation adheres to strict confidentiality policies and follows BACP ethical standards.
    All counsellors are trained to handle disclosures of abuse, self-harm, or risk to others with appropriate safeguarding procedures.
